Life has got a habit of tripping you up whenever it sees fit. Things are going well: career, social life and relationship are all on point, then bam – enter LIFE. Life will muscle in and see how well things are going, then turn them all on their heads. It’s just what happens. It’s why you hear people talk about how well things are going but that they’re waiting for something to go wrong.
Whether you’re looking at your home and hoping to save up to renovate, you’re looking at your job and want to make an entire change of your career or you’re deciding on how to overhaul your look, there are going to be moments where life trips you up. The time where you need to call Lockout 24/7 because your first night out in ages ended in you losing your keys. The time where you tried to add highlight to your face for the first time and ended up looking like you had a run in with a glitter bomb. These moments? Unforgettable, though you wish they weren’t! The important thing is to look out for those moments and catch them before you fall – flat on your face. So, what are the top things that will trip you up on this adventure we call life?
Appearances. When you’re growing up, you’re told that it’s what’s on the inside that counts, and you can feel pretty confident about that. Then you hit your teens and early twenties, and social media is the thing that you do the most. You learn that for most people, it’s actually the outside that matters and while everyone looks like a confidence Queen on their insta-stories, they’re instead a ball of insecurity. It’s confusing, and it’s better to just be yourself – not a copy of anyone else you may follow on social media.
Interiors. Magazines full of beautiful homes will always make you green with envy, but life will totally trip you up by the current housing market being so difficult to get into. We’re a generation of renters, so being able to have a home with your name on the mortgage is far off as it is, never mind a house with beautiful interiors defined. You don’t have to care about this too much; just make a bucket list on Pinterest for when you’ve finally purchased your own home!
Smartphones. The world we live in is one that relies on smartphones to get anything done. However, life will trip you up by trying to go out for dinner with your friends and no one is able to put theirs down for five minutes and just have a normal conversation. Try getting everyone to put their phones in the centre of the table during the meal; the first one to touch their phone before the bill comes, pays.
There are many more times life will be perilous, but the best advice out there is to focus on you and putting out the good vibes. Whatever positivity you radiate will come back to you!
