Pregnant women will best understand the situation with scents. It is not a surprise that we develop a sense of smell that rivals that of a sniff of a dog 🙂 Certain smells wether it is a food or just anything really follows us throughout the day. As for me, I constantly do something around the house to keep clean, fresh and make sure that smell is nice around me. I can not wait to finish my chores, have a shower and spray my favourite perfume to make me feel better. I don’t know what it is, but I always had this special connection with perfumes and it did not go away during pregnancy. I am picky with scents and there are places I can not go just because of it scent at the place, but I can not refuse spraying my favourite perfume at all times. In fact, I have even more cravings of beautiful scents like never before when in fact, it is recommended that expecting women stay in a scent-free environment until they can figure out which scents only aggravate their morning sickness and which scents work just fine. From my first pregnancy this was the same, I could get sick of the different scents, but never from my beloved perfumes or beauty products.
Throughout the years of being pregnant (and oh my god, I know how funny it sounded, but this is my third pregnancy so I am an experienced pregnant woman now 🙂 ) I have definitely made my choices. There are lots of products I adore, but can not use all of them especially in my first trimester, therefore I will share with you 5 of my favourite ones:
One of my favourite new discoveries is this Bath & Body Works Beachscape candle which is made of essential oils. This is a great way of keeping your house smell fresh and cosy all the time. I fell in love with this summery fragrance from the first sniff and would definitely recommend to anyone especially those who are sensitive to scents. This retails for £29.03.
During this pregnancy I really had a nostalgic feeling for the smells I used to love years ago and one of them is Paco Rabanne Lady Million. I still remember the fascinating combination of sensual flowers and intoxicating fruit which suits this season so well. I remember spraying it all over when going to work and all those beautiful memories came back. This is the nature of perfumes, they make you remember moments which you loved the most. Lady Million is Gentle and sweet essence of white honey and fresh accords of orange blossom. When wearing this, I really feel like a Lady Million. Male version of this perfume is one of my favourites too! 30ml retails for £38.33.
One of my favourite products especially during the pregnancy is this La Roche-Posay Iso-Urea, Moisturizing Fluid For Dry Skin. I have very dry skin so it works magics for me. It gives the perfect level of hydration to the skin and makes it velvety soft. La Roche-Posay, a dermocosmetics brand, is famed for its intense collaboration with dermatologists and its commitment to helping improve the lives of people with sensitive skin. That is why La Roche-Posay uses minimal ingredients in its products and they are created on the basis of a strict production charter. If you have dry to very dry skin then you have to try this product. It has very pleasent scent, which will be very suitable even if you are super sensitive to scents. 400ml retails for £19.40.
I am so lucky to say that my favourite perfume of all times, does not irritate me at all during pregnancy. I love this Chanel Allure so much, I think I will never get tired of this. This is great for everyday or special occasions. For me, this is more than perfume, this is my smell which can not be separated for me and I always stock up on them as soon as I get the chance.
Bioderma is the brand I came across after having kids. My girls have very sensitive skin and I always make sure to use for them products that does not irritate their skin and has almost no scent to them, their ABC derm range products are really great for children and we use them daily. Slowly I started to get to know more products from Bioderma and right now its amazing products takes up the most space on my shelves. One of my favourite products from Bioderma is the Sensibio H2O micellar water for sensitive skin. I always had issues with my skin while trying out different products and so happy to have finally found the one that I love. This is the only micellar water that does not irritate my skin.
These are my personal choices, what scents or products do you love the most during pregnancy? I can wait to hear your opinions.
These do sound like some great products! I wish they were around when I was pregnant.
Sometimes I’m not a big fan of heavy smells even though I’m not pregnant. Will have to check these out, thanks!
The beach scape scented candle is so PRETTY! Does it smell as good as it looks? I typically use the Yankee candles, but they’re so expensive 🙁 I’ve been looking into more essential oil candles like this. Great post!
I was ultra sensitive to smells when pregnant. I still get bothered by a lot of smells like peanut butter, popcorn, coffee and chemicals.
My nose is extremely particular and there are very few scents that I like. Having said that, the candle sounds right up my alley.
I wish i had seen this when I was pregnant! Smells bothered me so much, but I still like the ides of light or fragrance free beauty products.
You have here a great list of those products perfect for pregnant moms . I wish I knew these when I was pregnant with my boys. I had a sensitive sense of smell and could easily vomit or have headache.
Aww, these products look so good especially Paco Rabanne Lady Million. It would make for a great gift for my pregnant sister. Thanks!
I do love Channel Allure as well, it is one of my favorite perfumes. I don’t have issues with smells but I do have a friend who does, so I will share this article with her. I am sure she will find it very useful.
These do look like brilliant products to use while pregnant. I did not like certain scents while I was pregnant and these would’ve come in handy.
I love Bioderma and products from La Roche Posay. They are great quality and don’t have much if any fragrance.
This a good list of sensitive and well trusted brands. Might be difficult sometimes to find a good smelling product for pregnant women. These are great choices.
Allure by Channel is one of my favourite scents. I don’t usually use perfume since I have a sensitive smell even if I am not pregnant but this one is different. I love it.
I love the products and great for moms to be. I have always love products from La Roche Posay and even during my pregnancy and after. Great choices for gifts too,
This is a piece of good information for pregnant women. I wish I knew about them when I was pregnant.
I heard stories of women throwing up over smells alone. Great list to help moms who get nausea.
Oh my gosh, I forgot all about being sensitive to smells when pregnant. I worked in a sub shop with my first kiddo and pastrami did me in every time!
